ABOUT

For authentic Cuban cuisine, there’s no better place than Copacabana. The family-owned and operated restaurant has called Downtown Abacoa home since 2012, and quickly became one of the area’s hottest attractions.

Copacabana is owned by Gustavo Garcia and his wife, Marion Van Den Berg. Garcia was born and raised in Cuba and moved to the U.S. when he was 28, with the dream of opening his own restaurant.

While you can’t go wrong, regardless of what you order - everything is made fresh (nothing frozen) at Copacabana, using only natural ingredients – Van Den Berg says they do have a few signature dishes.

“We’re famous for our Churrasco, Paella and Lechon Asado,” she says.

As for why the husband and wife team selected Downtown Abacoa, Van Den Berg says it just felt right.

“Abacoa is wonderful. There’s a strong focus on families here, and that’s what we’re all about. At Copacabana, it’s not uncommon to see a 2-year-old on the dance floor with her 90-year-old grandfather,” she says. “There is so much opportunity in Abacoa. We’re very blessed.”
